We are lucky enough to be offered a tiny, one case allocation of this each year and seeing as Rostaing are considered some of the best in not only Cote-Rotie but in the Northern Rhone> Well we gladly take our case and say thank you. It’s rare the even we get to taste this wine as it is so highly sought after but we were feeling extra generous on a recent Saturday and opened it for a Rhone tasting. This, to me, is about as sexy as Syrah gets. Smoky, gamey aromas with crushed blackberries and cracked black pepper. Densely packed a firm on the palate up front but as the wine unfolds in the glass and on the palate, that’s when the intrigue truly begins. Black fruits, bacon, plumeria, herbs and briny black olives take turns center stage weaving themselves into the most delicious palate covering. Cellar worthy for sure, that is if you can wait!
