Gorgeous white Burgundy that should cost twice as much! Generously layered, fleshy Chardonnay. “This is nearly perfect wine.” Rich but with just the right amount of cinching in from brilliant acidity. Layers of creamy citrus curd, crushed white stones,
Dominique Lafon is not only considered one of the best winemakers in Burgundy he is so highly esteemed that he is thought of as one of the best winemakers in all of France. This generously layered, fleshy Chardonnay comprised of a blend of two villages, those of Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet which are some of the most prized soils for Chardonnay in the world. Farmed just as his much rarer and more sought after, (and expensive) Comte Lafon wines, using organic practices and very minimal intervention.
My most recent tasting of this wine had me thinking, “This is nearly perfect wine” Rich but with just the right amount of cinching in from brilliant acidity. Layers of creamy citrus curd, crushed white stones, spice and assertive white pear flesh. Silky but firm. Full of energy but still gracious. Wow. This is a truly rare gem that you simply have to try if you love white wine, Chardonnay and especially white Burgundy.
