E. Bodin 2020 Cassis Rose, Provence
The Bodin family purchased some phylloxera decimated vineyards in the picturesque village of Cassis back in 1899 and were very much involved in helping Cassis receive its A.O.C. status. Made from 50% Grenach, 40% Cinsault and 10% Clairette. This is not a chug-it-back Rose to drink from a plastic cup by the pool. We certainly love those too but this, this is a whole other level of Rose and one to take your time sipping, swirling, sniffing and repeating. Very noble in its texture and length, spills across the palate and wraps around the tongue. Wild strawberry and river water washed stones, with dried herbs and a gorgeous floral note on the very long finish. Still vibrant, crisp and refreshing but plushy enough to offer real pleasure. Very limited.
