Eladio Pineiro 2009 "La Coartada" Red Wine, Alentejo, Portugal
Now I’m not just saying this taste like a Baby Port because it is from Portugal. This wine has rich dark fruit; plums, blackberries, raisins and more plums. But unlike in Port, where the rich fruit just coats your palate, settles in and hangs out, this 2009 (current vintage) wine hits you with a combination of barnyard and hay that will please Natural Wine fans who enjoy their vinos to have a little funk. The barnyard and hay do not last, they settle down and more blackberry fruit comes out on the finish, but while subtle, the funk is still there.
