Francois Chidaine 2022 "Le Chenin d'Ici" Chenin Blanc, Loire Valley

There are few more respected names in the world of Chenin Blanc than Francois Chidaine. His Montlouis from the Loire Valley are some of the most sought after there are, the world over, and yet he remains humble, and keeps his wines so affordable. This he makes from purchased fruit from the south of France, because he wanted to offer a little more wine, especially in difficult vintages, to his Chenin Blanc loving fans. This vintage brings us a crazy nose of dried herbs, almost reminds me of marijuana on the nose along with pears and citrus. All clean fruit on the palate, just a blast of freshness that doesn’t let up. Thankfully. What a treat.
