Mike Grgich, at 96 years old, is the last of the giants of 1970s and 80s winemaking, having been the winning white winemaker of the Judgment of Paris 1976 tasting, and going on to create one of the nation's iconic Chardonnays from his own Grgich Hills Estate.  All the Grgich Hills wines are organically farmed and estate grown these days, and though the winery's reds have been uneven in the past, when they are as good as this special reserve bottling, you can't help but raise a glass to the grand old man.  This bottling, the winery informs us, is made from some of the oldest Cabernet Sauvignon vines in the Napa Valley, planted in 1959 from the Inglenook clone in Yountville, which is cooler than up-valley Rutherford.  Full in the mouth, well-structured, and sporting the flavors of true Cabernet, it is a generous bottle that you will be proud to share with guests.
