I love the purity on the nose here. Just gobs of grapey fruit with cracked pepper and a hint of red currant on the finish. Light, but with tremendous Beaujolais character.
Description

Guy Breton took over his family domaine in 1986 and stopped the family practice of selling off their fruit to the local negotiant and began bottling under the Guy Breton name. Always one of the first to pick in the region because Guy is in favor of lighter, lower alcohol, less tannic Beaujolais, even from Morgon which is known for being fuller and more powerful. The Gamay for this Morgon comes from 80 year old vines which produce less fruit, but the fruit they get is extracted and concentrated. I love the purity on the nose here. Just gobs of grapey fruit with cracked pepper and a hint of red currant on the finish. Light, but with tremendous Beaujolais character.

At first the nose is a little reticent, maybe brooding, perhaps.  But the character of the wine is more reflective of its lighter color that reminds me of a pretty Cote de Beaune.  A little fuller-bodied in the mouth, yet as elegant as a young Burgundy, the palate sustains its flavor all the way to the tangy finish.  Quite impressive in its distinctive way.

The Wine Country.
