Renowned as one of the best wineries in South Africa, Hamilton Russell produces wines of purity, power and grace from their estate's meticulously farmed vines. This 90% barrel fermented Chardonnay is widely acclaimed and with its combination of bright, rich and pure fruit, very good natural acidity, minerality, complexity and depth to go with its long and satisfying finish, it's easy to see why. It has a ripe lush nose of pear and lime and a mouthful of extremely well balanced fruit - citrus and stonefruit. It is aged for 9 months in 35% new French oak, with the remainder 2nd and 3rd use barrels. Rich and elegant but very focused, this is a nicely oaked wine that isn't overly buttery or woody. A phenomenal wine.
