Henri Clerc 2017 Pommard Grand Vin de Bourgogne, Cote d'Or, France

Pommard and Volany, Beaune’s two powerhouse villages, have been devastated by hail for quite a few years running now, sometimes losing 80-100% of their crop, so finding a wine this brilliant at this price is amazing. Elegant Pinot Noir aromatics and flavors but with extra meat and body. Sturdy red fruit, warm spice, earth, and a touch of vanilla kissed citrus. Red meat; roast beef, lamb, and venison but also perfection with dark meat fowl or salmon. Not cheap but still quite a steal.
