Illahe 2020 Tempranillo Rose Willamette Valley, Oregon
So we were told that the winemaker at Illahe resisted making Rose for years and was not at all interested in making a Rose of Pinot Noir, (good call if you ask me) so when he caved and started making Rose he decided to make one from Tempranillo, another good call. This citrus heavy Rose reminds me of kumquats on the nose, ripe citrus but with a floral note as well. Quite graceful on the palate with that citrus again making itself the star, but there is a cool little wild, almost earthy thing on the palate as well. Super fun little Rose for sure.
