Colline Novaresi is a wine region in Northern Piedmont where the Nebbiolo grape has been cultivated for hundreds of years and was once more famous than Barolo. After WWll most people left the area for work in the large cities so the wine industry declined. Now the Northern Piedmont wine regions are seeing a resurgence and garnering attention for high quality Nebbiolo wines. The region is closer to the Alps and cooler which makes the Nebbiolo wines from the region lighter, fresher and more flowery than their southern piedmont counterparts. Ioppa’s Nebbiolo is medium bodied with red cherry and berry fruits and notes of forest underbrush. The tannins are somewhat firm given the young age of this wine but will soften up paired with a cheese or mushroom pasta or any white meat dish.
