Joseph Drouhin was born in Chablis and settled in Beaune, at the age of 22, in 1880 and each generation has built upon his humble start and turned the Drouhin name into one of the most respected and known in Burgundy. Still family owned, they have purchased a winery and vines in Oregon as well, truly passionate about Pinot Noir and Chardonnay the Drouhin’s are. This 2018 Meursault has the classic nutty, warmed pear aromatics that the wine from Meursault are revered for. Aged for 12 months in oak, 25% of which is new, there is a beautiful spicing and creamy mouthfeel to this generous wine. Still quite young and I think it will develop with another year in the bottle. That said, give it a good decant and pair it with a crispy skinned roast chicken and your day is made.
