Jules Taylor is producing this totally dry and super delicious Pinot Gris from premium Marlborough fruit. It shows a delicate, pretty nose of stonefruit and white melon. It has a really beautiful weight and balance in the mouth, with flavors of spicy, juicy pear and a hint of green apple. This vintage is a bit more lithe and wonderfully textured compared to last year's bigger fruit. A clean, fruity finish shows the proper natural acidity. According to Jules, the complexity of this wine comes from separately fermenting and then blending the wild fermented machine harvested portion of the grapes with the hand-harvested grapes, which are whole cluster pressed and undergo a full malolactic fermentation; brilliant winemaking!
