Like Kermit Lynch's Cote du Rhone, the approachable white wine is a crowd pleaser delivering way above its price. This 100% Verdicchio is grown in the Marche region of eastern Italy located on the Adriatic Coast, with a similar latitude as Tuscany. The hills surrounding the Apennine mountain with distant view of the Adriatic is where these vineyards are located. The town of Jesi is an historic area of very fine Verdicchio. There is no oak on this wine, and it was fermented in stainless steel, and aged 3 months before release.
This wine from Azienda Santa Barbara is bright and zesty with refreshing lemony and green apple flavors. It's a wine meant to be drunk when purchased and fully enjoyed. Drink alone or with salads, river fish, crudites, appetizers.
