Knuttel Family 2018 Chardonnay "Kate's Pas De Deux", Russian River Valley
Some of the first things you’ll notice about this wine, besides it being delicious, is how rich it is as well as the ripe tropical fruit quality. This comes from barrel-fermenting in French oak as well as a healthy amount of lees (spent yeast) stirring. This gives the wine a velvety mouthfeel that when combined with malolactic fermentation imparts a creamy brie cheese like quality to the wine. The winemaker opted to not fine the wine which added even more texture and richness. Expect baked golden delicious apple smothered in butter along with spicy oak and lemon custard.
