Lapostolle 2018 Cuvee Alexandre Carmenere, Chile
Lapostolle’s mission for this wine is to express the terroir of their vineyards. So with a winemaking philosophy to have minimal intervention they do 100% hand harvesting in small cases and ferment only using native yeasts. 95% Carmenere and 5% Syrah aged in 15% new, 23% second use and 62% third use French Oak barrels for 12 months. The nose brings forward red and black fruits such as masque berry and spices such as red pepper, vanilla, and fresh herbs. Medium acidity and round tannins with red berries an herb sensation on the palate it shows everything you could want in a Carmenere.
