Dominique Lucas, winemaker at Les Vignes de Paradis is actually a 5th generation winemaker but the rest of his family farms and makes wine in Burgundy, not the Savoie. After studying winemaking in school Dominique didn't want to make wine under the very strict rules of his birthplace in Burgundy so he instead nestled into a place in the Savoie with slopes that look out over Lake Geneva. Very natural winemaking practices and with extreme dedication to making wines that outshine their mere variety, Dominique is quite the rock star, and for good reason, he is producing some of the best, most forward and generous wines in the region. Overflowing with personality.
This Pinot Gris has some age on it but there is still tons of nerve and energy at play. Ripe, succulent stone fruit flavors seasoned with bright, crisp minerality. Great curve on the palate, the wine feels chewier that any Pinot Gris, dry Pinot Gris, I've ever had. Cheese, roasted birds, simple pork, sausage, bring it on.
