Scansano is a small town in the southern part of Tuscany near the Coastal Maremma region. Their local word for Sangiovese is Morellino. Morellino di Scansano is the robust Sangiovese based wine that young people in Rome and Siena enjoy as their everyday wine. Morellino di Scansano is bolder, darker and more juicy than Sangiovese wines from the cooler Chianti area and delivers a softer, more approachable wine.
Fattoria di Magliano's Morellino is a great example of this enjoyable wine. Plump and vibrant, the medium bodied wine delivers plenty of ripe dark red cherry fruit, earthy undertones and a little spicy kick on the finish. This is a forward wine meant to enjoy young and fresh.
Heba is the Etruscan name for the village of Magliano. The label bears the image of a sculpture uncovered nearby which dates back to that era.
Fattoria di Magliano achieved organic certification in 2016.
