Marchand-Tawse 2018 Meursault, Burgundy
100% Chardonnay, 35 years old on average. The grapes hail from three parcels: “Narvaux” (top of the slope with limestone and a generous amount of gravel); “Grands Charrons” (clay and limestone with alluvial gravel); and “Crotots” (accounts for 10% of the blend and is located at the foot of the slope with predominantly clay, limestone and gravel soils). Aging lasts for 16 months in French oak barrels (20% new oak from the Jupilles forest). The wine is then bottled unfined and unfiltered. All aging operations are carried out according to the lunar calendar.
Notes of citrus zest, roasted hazelnuts, crushed stone and fragrant white flowers lend charm and typicity to this lovely Meursault, while a precise, chiseled structure and penetrating mineral core offers depth, finesse and length.
Just 170 cases produced, making it one of the rarest wines in our store.
