Colline Novaresi is a wine region in Northern Piedmont where the Nebbiolo grape has been cultivated for hundreds of years and was once more famous than Barolo. Post WW2 many people left the area for work in the large cities so the wine industry declined. Now the Northern Piedmont wine regions are seeing a resurgence and garnering attention for high quality Nebbiolo. The region is closer to the Alps with cooler temperatures giving the Nebbiolo wines here brighter tones and lighter weight than their Langhe counterparts and notes of herbs and underbrush.
