Moulin de Gassac 2019 Picpoul de Pinet, Languedoc, France
This is a delightful wine from the Pinet area of the Languedoc region of France. It is often referred to as the Muscadet of the Midi because of its briny notes on the palate. The Picpoul grapes are grown on limestone soils, and subject to cooling Mediterranean breezes, helping to preserve fresh acidity in the finished wines. Mas de Daumas Gassac makes this wine, and is one of the most important estates in the Languedoc. They practice organic winemaking, and their five hectares of vineyards lie close to the oyster beds of the Mediterranean Sea. Vinified in 100% stainless steel tanks.
Perfect for spring and summer! Aromas of citrus, melon, and coastal brine. The palate is fuller than you might expect with lemony and melon notes with fresh acidity . Pair with shellfish, oysters, roast chicken and Cobb salad.
