Delicious Cabernet stretched to its limit on the thin rocky soils of steep vineyard slopes grown at elevations ranging from 1,400 to 1,800 ft. Nutrients and minerals are in short supply here which causes the vine to produce berries smaller in size, increasing the skin to juice ratio and concentrating flavor. Due to its elevation Mt Veeder can often have cooler daytime temperatures than the valley floor by ten to fifteen degrees. The growing season moves slower up here but patience will be rewarded with complex blackcurrant, blackberry, fig and red berry fruit alongside accents of cinnamon and toasted oak.
