Raats 2017 Cabernet Franc Dolomite Stellenbosch, South Africa

Dolomite Cab Franc is named after the soils of the vineyard the grapes come from. The unirrigated Vineyards with vines that range from 8 to 21years old are grown only in soils of decomposed granite which adds acidity and minerallity to the wine. The grapes were all handpicked and pit in stainless steel for maolatic fermentation then transferred to be aged for 14 months in 300L french oak barrels and bottled without fining or filtration. This wine displays succulent sour cherry, dark berry and spice flavor. The lovely fruit purity combined with hints of wet stone minerality gives it a soft velvety finish.
