Intense and vibrant, this white blend is distinctive. Very youthful and appealing, with aromas and flavors of white peach, golden apples, chamomile, ginger and lemon verbena. Pairs with pork, chicken, spicy Asian dishes.
Sadie Family wines are the most famous and critically acclaimed wines in all of South Africa. This very hard to get (406 cases total production), 50% Chenin Blanc & 50% Palomino blend of dry farmed 60-year-old bush vine fruit proves why. Amazing intensity, vibrancy, complexity and depth are the hallmarks of the very special wine. Grown in very dry conditions a little more than 1 mile from the Atlantic Ocean, the two varietals are planted together, harvested together and co-fermented together in old wooden casks. This wine is so sought after that I was unable to get a sample bottle to taste, but the previous 2015 vintage was one of the best white wines I have had recently regardless of price. According to The Wine Spectator, “Intense and still youthfully tight, with verbena and white peach notes leading the way for yellow apple, chamomile, white ginger and jasmine flavors. A lovely quinine streak is well-embedded, giving this tension and vibrancy through the finish. Drink now through 2024. 95 Points”.
