Cannonau is Sardinia’s most planted red grape and grown all over the island. Cannonau is their name for Grenache and every proud Sardinian will tell you that the grape originated in Sardinia, not in Spain and recent DNA tests have helped prove this theory. The Santadi winery is located on the hot, dry southern tip of the island where the Cannonau grapes fully ripen in the warm sun. Their Noras wine is a beautiful expression of Cannonau with rich black and red fruits, hints of herbs and spices and a smooth silky texture. Great with grilled or roasted meats.
