This rare, intense and powerful Cabernet Sauvignon based blend is a cult wine within New Zealand and considered the country's top red. A blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, this is a young wine of bursting energy, concentration, complexity, texture, classic structure and intense purity. It also has a wonderful floral quality and a fine sense of place. It sees 17 months in mostly new French oak after a meticulous, hand managed, classic fermentation. The wine is alive and vibrant, but young; drinkable and fine now with a good decant, it will age magnificently over the next ten to twenty years. The crowd at a recent tasting was impressed with the coiled intensity of this world class Bordeaux-style blend. We were lucky to get a single six pak and there probably isn’t any more available, so treat yourself or a friend and get it while you can for that special gift or the cellar to see what high end New Zealand red wine is all about.
