This is NOT like all the other Chasselas you have had before. Kidding of course as the majority of the wine drinking world has never heard of Chasselas let alone drink any before. Chasselas is a cold climate white variety grown mostly in Switzerland and France but does reach Germany, Chile, New Zealand and other Eastern European regions as well. Usually a simple, dry white with good mineral and fruit.
Dominique Lucas comes from a Burgundian winemaking family and has managed to coax so much character and nuance out of this Chasselas. Farmed organically and aged in cement tanks. This is a wine for those that like a little contemplation and maybe a tiny bit of wild in their wines. You get everything from lemon zest to raw almond to quince and herbs. Really fun wine with a bigger body so it can hold up to hearty flavors like dark meat chicken, game birds and mushroom dishes as well as a brilliant partner for cheese!
