Mild smoke gives it a full body, the Port Barrel aging gives it a dark fruit richness that is uncommon in the Whisky world.

Whenever you see a Scotch that is aged for 18 years or more you're expecting something with a lot of depth and great flavor. You're getting that exact thing in this 21 year Balvenie that is finished in Port Wine Barrels. A nice note of peat smoke pops onto the palate with hints of black cherry and blackberry. Slight spice notes from the oak come out to lighten up the Spirit, allowing the smoke to come to the front again. The dark fruit comes out on the finish and rounds it out very nicely.
