Txomin Etxaniz 2023 Getariako Txakolina, Basque Country, Spain

Txomin Etxaniz is one of the oldest Getaria Tkakoli producers dating back to 1649 and is the standard that all producers try to meet. Their Txakoli is classic in style with refreshing, spritzy lemon and lime citrus and saltiness but is slightly softer and more elegant than other less expensive txakoli wines.  An exceptional wine!

The family led the effort to establish Getariako Txakolina as a Denominación de Origen or DO in 1989. The estate is stunning, sitting along the hills of the Cantabrian Coast in Spain's Basque Country. There are currently 35 hectares of vines planted mostly (90%) to the Basque white grape, Hondarabbi Zuri and 10% to the Basque red grape, Hondarabbi Beltza. The grapes are grown on steep sloping hills on tall arbors. Pair this lively and refresher with oysters, shellfish, and other seafood.
