The Weibel 'Governor's Cuvee' is made by the Weibel family, and is named for the very first governor of California. It is clean, crisp and very refreshing with lime, apple pear and fresh bread, with a touch of sweetness. It is an easy accompaniment to shellfish and river fish, as well as a great base for spritzers and cocktails. It may also be enjoyed alone.
The estate was started when Rudolph and son Fred Weibel, Sr. came to California, bringing with them old world classic winemaking techniques. They had a personal commitment to excellence that has carried through successive generations of Weibels. Today, the Fred Weibel Jr. oversees the entire operation centered in Mendocino, with cousin Gary Habluetzel in charge of production. 4th generation Justin Weibel has joined the team, a recent graduate of the University of California at Davis with a degree in fermentation science.
