This estate is new to The Wine Country, but this delicately dry offering charmed us so much we had to bring it in the store before really getting to know the winemakers. Carolin Hofmann, who studied winemaking in South Africa and Australia, formed this company with her husband Jürgen Hofmann in 2006. She ages her Rieslings in neutral barrels to tame the acidity in her Saar wines. The result is an off-dry wine like this. Pleasantly dry, with just the faintest kiss of sweetness, pure flavors and a softer finish. Dry, yes, but not too dry.
