Casale del Giglio 2022 Cesanese, Lazio Italy

Cesanese is an ancient, very late ripening grape found in the areas surrounding Rome and is the every day red wine Romans drink with their rich, meat dishes.   Casale del Giglio’s 2016 Cesanese is big and supple with ripe black and red cherry fruit, hints of smoked meats and a peppery finish.  The wine has just enough acidity to balance the rich fruit.  This big red screams for a rich beef stew or meat pasta dishes.
