Causse Marines 2018 Gaillac Rouge "Rasdu"
Causse Marines is located in the south of France in a lesser-known region named Gaillac and was started by Patrice Lescarret. Patrice studied winemaking in Bordeaux and says that once he graduated and started making wine, for real, is when he really learned how to make wine correctly. Not a fan of the old guard ways in Bordeaux, Patrice found his voice and passion in the south of France where he practices organic and biodynamic farming and winemaking, but still wants wines that express the flavor of their homeland, but don’t have any funky notes to them. This wild red is made from mostly Syrah and has some of those savory, meaty notes but there is a light touch at play here. The wine is on the lighter side. Big flavor but with a leaner body and plenty of lively lift on the finish. Grilled and roasted meats or mushroom heavy dishes will be well served with this wine.
