Charles Van Canneyt 2018 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, Burgundy
Charles Van Canneyt’s winemaking is very much in line with what Burgundy’s future is, keeping with its fine traditions. Charles’ work at his family’s historic Domaine Hudelot Noellat as head winemaker since 2008 is well documented by rave reviews from critics, but Charles also started his own ‘micro négociant’ operation in 2012 in order to have a project of his own where he focuses on classically-styled wines from Burgundy’s finest addresses.
Neal Martin, Vinous: "The 2018 Chambertin Grand Cru has a classy bouquet of well defined blackberry and raspberry fruit, cedar and light sous-bois aromas. The cohesive palate is medium-bodied with refined tannins and a fine bead of acidity, and a touch of spice toward the finish. This is a supremely well crafted Chambertin that will give up to two decades of drinking pleasure."
