Chateau-Fortia 2020 Chateauneuf-Du-Pape "Cuvee du Baron", Rhone

This estate has become one of my go-to favorites when looking for a more restrained and balanced Chateauneuf-du-Pape. In a world where 16% alcohol is not unheard of from the southern Rhone, it’s delightful to find a wine with classic flavors and textures, that has a more “Old school” level of alcohol. Bright berry fruited, wild herbs sewn through and while hearty on the palate, this wine is anything but heavy. Perfect for strong cheeses, game, lamb and all things sausage.
