Domaine Roland Schmitt 2024 Gewurztraminer Glintzberg, Alsace

The Glintzberg vineyard in Bergbieten is basically the same terroir as the Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergbieten. The only difference is that the Glintzberg plot is facing a more easterly exposure while the grand cru faces mostly south. The wine here shows excellent breed with a nose of spice (nutmeg & clove) and some tropical fruit. Vinified dry, there is just enough residual sugar to round out the edges. Very long with good mineral expression.

Very light straw color with classic lychee perfume and flavor.  Beautifully varietal character, loaded, yet not heavy.  A little bit of concentrated fruit is in the middle palate.  All and all a terrific value, as are all Roland Schmitt wines.
