The Marne region of Champagne is really the sweet spot to grow Pinot Meunier because of its rich sand and clay soils which are perfect for this oft blended variety. Francois knew early on that he was going take over winemaking for his family domaine and returned from enology school at 19 years old and jumped right in. The vineyards are farmed sustainably and Francis believes that it is because of the health of his vines that he can offer this Extra Brut that still has plenty of fruit and charm, without needing to add as much dosage. This wine, with its tiny little bubbles has aromas of stone fruit, apricot, peaches, apple and just a little golden raisin with citrus. On the palate we have that wild orchard again but matched with some wonderful herbal notes that keep everything bright and lifted. Quite dry but miles from being austere or shrill. Such a value.
