La Taille Aux Loups, Jacky Blot 2021 Vin De France "Bretonniere" Cuvee Parcellaire Monopole, Loire Valley
This wine is technically from Vouvray but some, very jealous, people in the region caused a stink because the wine, while grown in Vouvray soils, is made in the neighboring village of Montlouis, thus calling in the A.O.C. police and now Jacky Blot, (R.I.P.) has to call his Vouvray Vin de France. Petty and so transparent, but either way, Vouvray or not on the label, this is one dead sexy bottle of Chenin Blanc. So complex and layered it reminds me of great white Burgundy in its ability to captivate. Pears, peaches, holiday spice. The wine keeps evolving in the glass, each spin and sip revealing a new heart-pounding delight. Quite full in the mouth with ripe, luscious fruit that splashes about on the palate and seems to almost get stuck there. Jacky Blot passed away earlier this year, quite a loss to those of us that adore Loire Valley Chenin Blanc. He will live on through his powerful wines and I for one, I will remember him with each sip.
