Alain & Christophe Le Capitaine NV Vouvray Brut Methode Traditionnelle, Loire

The Capitaine brothers, Alain and Christophe are relatively new to winemaking by Loire Valley standards as they built and started their winery in 1987. They began farming their tiny estate organically in 2008 and have been committed to offering balanced, clean and well structured Vouvray from sparkling all the way to their sweeter wines. This sparkling wine is made from Chenin Blanc, (the only grape permitted in Vouvray) and while there is tons of punchy fresh fruit, it is indeed a dry sparkling wine. Peaches, pineapple and pears come to mind along with some, more flinty or steely notes. Beautifully balanced and is fantastic with brunch, cured meats, fried fishes and goat cheeses.
