Aperture 2023 Sauvignon Blanc, Sonoma County
This isn’t just a Sauvignon Blanc—it’s Jesse Katz channeling his Bordeaux Blanc instincts through a California lens.
The wine pours a pale silver‑straw, carrying lemon‑candy, grapefruit, tropical florals, and fleeting spice that nod to Bordeaux’s precision and Sonoma’s vivacity . It’s a thoughtful blend—80% Sauvignon Blanc with 20% Sémillon—aged in a mix of new, used, and neutral French oak, plus a hint of cement, all carefully worked to preserve freshness.
On the palate, it’s medium-bodied and satiny, yet electrified with acidity. White peach, guava, beeswax, tarragon, and flint layer in harmony, stretched across a weightless, mouthwatering finish that gives you reason to pause—then reach again.
Critics agree. At 94 points from Jeb Dunnuck and 93 from Wine Advocate, it’s a wine with both polish now and space to evolve if you cellar it.
What matters is the intention: a Sauvignon Blanc that doesn’t shout, but composes. It marries fruit, texture, and site in a way that says this isn’t just wine—it’s a moment captured.
