January's Spirit of the Month - Ten to One White Rum
January’s Spirit of the Month is Ten to One Caribbean White Rum. Founded by Marc Farrell, a Caribbean native who created Ten to One because of his love of Rum and a desire to change the narrow thinking of Caribbean Rum. He brought it to the United States because he felt that there was a missing appreciation of the spirit. The name Ten to One comes from a quote from Dr. Eric Williams, the first Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago. When rallying to preserve the first Caribbean federation of 10 countries, he famously said, “One from ten leaves zero”, reflecting the idea that we are stronger together than we are apart.
Marc’s White Rum is a blend of column still rum from the Dominican Republic and pot still rum from Jamaica. Ten to One’s White Rum has a very classic Caribbean Rum profile; Agricole funky grassiness leads to hints of coco, while the coco brings some richness, the rum finishes off grassy. Ten to One has also been featured on Sippin’ with Jeremy, watch the video here.
