Bonny Doon Vineyard 2024 Picpoul, Central Coast
The Bonny Doon 2024 Picpoul opens with a scent you don’t chase—it floats in: banana flower beneath a wash of citrus peel and wet clay. Nothing is gilded; it is all surface and shade, subtle but present.
On the palate, the wine speaks in precision. It’s structured lean, acidity taut—not flutes, but a blade moving through stillness. The finish is lingering tension paired with saline freshness, not flavor grandstanding.
This is Picpoul that wears its context lightly. Harvested from the Beeswax (Arroyo Seco) and Sweetwater (Monterey)vineyards, and vetted with biodynamic care, the fruit is pressed whole, fermented cool in stainless steel, and gently rested on lees just long enough to settle.
Longtime weird‑lover Randall Grahm may be gone, but this Picpoul stays true to the vision—unfussy, transparent, terroir‑first. It trades veneer for voice.
Drink it with raw oysters, Salade Niçoise, or simply when the evening drifts and you want the air to keep its line between rind and salt, tension and breath.
Bonny Doon 2024 Picpoul—coastal clarity in glass, nothing extra, everything left intact.
