Bramare 2022 Malbec, Valle De Uco, Mendoza, Argentina
The Bramare 2022 Malbec greets you like dusk descending on the Andes foothills—ink-blue fruit unfolding with wet stone and a flicker of mint. It carries concentration without theatrics, tension without tautness, proving depth doesn’t need to whisper or shout—sometimes it just is.
On the palate, the wine unfurls methodically. Blueberry threads into dark plum, layered with violet and graphite. Acidity cuts through, preventing warmth from bloating sweetness; tannins are fine and grippy. It finishes on a mineral note—a reflective echo, not a finale gesture.
Bramare means “to yearn,” and it’s no accident that this wine reflects pursuit. Crafted by Paul Hobbs and Viña Cobos, this range marked his venture deeper into Mendoza’s terroir. The Valle de Uco version shows fruit from high-altitude vineyards (around 3,300 to 3,800 feet) in tapping into soils that are sandy, rocky, alluvial—conditions that give fruit weight but hold it in place.
This isn’t embellished Malbec. About 20% of the wine was aged 18 months in French oak, the rest kept in tank to preserve freshness—it’s about enabling site expression, not creating a signature style over the fruit.
This is for later too: age will bring out graphite and high-toned spice, and the structure promises purity over pomp. Pair it with grilled steaks, herbed lamb, or just a thought that needs anchoring.
Bramare 2022 Malbec—yearning born in high ground, shaped by stone, driven by purpose.
