Chateau la Coustarelle 2019 Cahors, Southwest France

Family owned since 1870, but they did not start bottling under their own name until the 90s. Made from 80% Malbec and 20 Merlot, fermented in stainless to retain freshness and then aged 18 months neutral oak. Nice dark color, rich and inky with both earthy and fruity aromatics that come bursting from the glass. Leans towards the herbal end of things which tempers the chunky fruit perfectly.
