One of the rarest, (and geekiest) wines in the world.  Chateau Chalon is a tiny appellation in the foothills of the Alps, best known for oxidized Savignin which may remind you of sherry, with a solid core of fruit.
Description

It is the undisputed king of Jura wines, considered by connoisseurs as one of the greatest wines in the world.  Sparkling yellow color, harmonious and complex palate with notes of grilled almonds and walnuts, good length, surprisingly intense.  All Château-Chalon wine is sold in squat bottles known as clavelins, which contain 62cl (21 fluid ounces) of wine. This volume is said to be the quantity that would remain if a winemaker started the six-year vin jaune production process with one full liter of wine.  These wines are capable of aging decades.  The domaine suggests accompanying this wine with cheese platters, particularly Comté and Morbier, and morel cream sauce dishes. They also suggest it goes wonderfully with foie gras (when you can get it).

The Wine Country.
