Domaine De La Vieille Julienne 2022 Chateauneuf Du Pape "Les Trois Sources", Rhone Valley

Trois Sources is as the name suggests, from 3 plots within a lower elevation area of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, and from soils that are sandy and rich in clay which provide strikingly rich fruit with super fine tannins. I was gob smacked by how refined this wine was when I tasted it. My notes simply said, “As elegant a Chateauneuf-du-Pape as I have ever had. Feels like it was made by a Burgundian” The push of ripe fruit and the pull back of richness and gloppiness is like drinking a tango. Truly thrilling.
