Domaine Gardies 1985 Rivesaltes, Languedoc

Super rare dessert wine from the south of France. Made from Grenache this extremely complex and unique wine is sweet but because of the acidity, and the aging, it is not syrupy or cloying. Dried figs, nuts, dates, some savory suggestions of beef broth or dried mushrooms. A brilliant wine for a cheese course, add some nuts, aged Gouda, Stilton or St Agur blue and some creamy, gooey Brie and you have yourself a perfect end to any evening.
