Domaine Nicolas Rossignol 2021 Volnay 1er Cru "Ronceret", Burgundy

The 1er Cru vineyard of Ronceret is located in the center of the village of Volnay and while noted for their poor soils that are shallow and littered with pebbles and yet, the wines from that specific vineyard are some of the prettiest and aromatic in Volnay. Nico’s style is perfect for a vineyard like this. His tightrope balance of power, tradition and polish are perfectly suited to this vineyard. There is more dark fruit here, leaning away from cherries and heading more into berry and plum with holiday spice and just a scrape of coffee and dried roses. Meaty in the mouth though the weight isn’t huge, it just fills your mouth and holds on. Silky, elegant, powerful.
