Roland Schmitt has been providing us with very good white wines for over a quarter century, and this Gewurztraminer is one of the best values in all of Alsace.
Description
The Glintzberg vineyard in Bergbieten is basically the same terroir as the Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergbieten. The only difference is that the Glintzberg plot is facing a more easterly exposure while the grand cru faces mostly south. The wine here shows excellent breed with a nose of spice (nutmeg & clove) and some tropical fruit. Vinefied dry, there is just enough residual sugar to round out the edges. Very long with good mineral expression.
