The rare Pinot Noirs of Chambolle-Musigny have a pretty character to them, generally aromatic and more delicate than the more muscular wines of Gevrey Chambertin. This impressive version kept getting better and better with air, boding well for a cellar.
Description

We opened the Taupenot-Merme 2022 Chambolle Musigny when it arrived.  It showed fruit and a hint of smoked meat in the aroma.  It displayed a medium-weight, not flashy or fruity at first.  In fact, the fruit was rather tamped down, but we sensed it wanted to emerge.  After three days, the wine blossomed into the beauty we knew lurked in there.  The aroma was sumptuous, the texture luxurious and all the Chambolle goodness charmed every one of us.  The moral?  Cellar this wine for a few years and you'll be rewarded.  If you can't wait, decant a few hours before serving.

“The Taupenot family is one of the lucky few to have vines in Chambolle, and it’s not something they take lightly. Organically farmed for well over twenty years and vinified with a light hand, the terroir famous for its refinement and delicacy shines through here with brio. Luxurious texture, abundant violet perfume, lacy tannins—this is the essence, and then some, of grand Chambolle.”—Chris Santini, Kermit Lynch Imports
